Geoff Jago, Richard Park and Kris Brown taught me at an early age that you could do anything with a vehicle. Limited only by imagination, the application of manual skill and dexterity could turn any concept into a real thing.

We did everything without drawings using the most basic tools, and created stuff by eye, adjusting it until it looked just right. The focus was clearly on Custom Cars and Bikes at that time, building on traditional styles and evolving them in new directions, employing the established skills in metalworking, painting, wiring and upholstery. The freedom to invent and create was a luxury that most people don't get.

The emerging use of fibreglass opened up possibilities in different directions and I found the limitless scope for complex shapes, structural components and repeatability fascinating. Using these materials in a motorsport environment inspired a desire to achieve quality and precision, and I could see that there was potential for all sorts of creativity that was not being exploited by the conventional fibreglass companies.

I have subsequently built a career in precision composites, and still design and manufacture components for automotive, motorsport, architecture and aviation. I probably owe everything to Geoff, Richard and Kris because without their willingness to pass on their knowledge and skills to a snotty sixteen year old, I would not have learned the fundamentals of “if you can think it, you can make it”.      Thanks chaps.
